Dirty Lemons 6 x 6 pastel
Day 9 — I only had about 45 mins. to paint today. Rather than blow it off, I took a simple subject and basically made a muddy mess. I would like to try this again sometime, but think about it a tad more before mushing pastel on a board (sigh).
In keeping with the spirit of the challenge, I will post everything— the good, the bad and the ugly.
Good for you for posting. We aren't making 100% masterpieces.

ReplyDeleteYou're too hard on yourself, Cris. You've taken two colors here which are polar opposites (dark violet and intense bright yellow) and you wanted them to play nice with each other in 45 minutes?? Sure I can see where some of the violet has gotten into the yellow, but you've still managed to get an incredible feeling of the back light shining through the lemon wedges, and the 'muddy' area is really working to support that effect!! Your values are dead on, and it's also a strong composition. So smile, and keep painting! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I really like it!! Yellows are hard to paint and specially the shadow side of it. But I agree what Rita mentioned about the muddy area. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Prerana
